Why the consultation matters
Before an injectable or laser treatment, your provider needs to look at the area, take a history and confirm that the treatment is appropriate for you. A clinic that treats this step as optional is skipping the part that keeps you safe.
What a good consultation covers
- What is actually causing the thing that bothers you. Movement, lost volume and texture each need different treatments.
- What the treatment will change and what it will not.
- The dose and the price before anything is done: units, syringes or sessions, and the total.
- Risks, aftercare and what is normal afterwards.
- The option of doing less, or nothing.
Questions worth asking
- Who will perform the treatment, and what is their training?
- How many units, syringes or sessions are you recommending, and what is my total?
- What happens if I do not like the result?
- What are the realistic downsides for me?
- Can I think about it and book later?
Signs to walk out on
- A price that only exists if you decide today.
- Pressure to buy a package before you have had one treatment.
- A guaranteed result.
- No examination before a recommendation.
How to prepare
Come with clean skin and a clear idea of what bothers you. Bring a list of your medications and supplements, and mention any event in the next two weeks.
